FAQs
TryGrounding Basics
What is grounding?
Grounding, also known as Earthing, means connecting your body directly to the natural electrical energy found on the Earth’s surface.
You can do this by walking barefoot outdoors—or by using modern "barefoot substitutes" like the ones we feature on our site.
TryGrounding products are designed to make this connection easy and accessible from inside your home. They work by plugging into the grounding port of a standard wall outlet or connecting through a ground rod kit, allowing the Earth’s energy to flow to you.
Each TryGrounding product is made with conductive materials that transmit this energy to your body through direct skin contact—so you can stay grounded while you sleep, relax, or work.
What is the difference between grounding & earthing?
What is the difference between grounding & earthing?
Grounding and Earthing both refer to the process of reconnecting with the Earth’s natural, subtle energy—and the terms are often used interchangeably.
Some people draw a distinction:
“Earthing” typically describes direct skin contact with the Earth’s surface, like walking barefoot on grass or sand.
“Grounding” is more often used in the context of electrical safety—referring to how devices connect to the Earth to prevent shocks or fire hazards.
While this technical difference may matter to engineers, for most people seeking health and wellness benefits, the two terms mean the same thing: connecting to the Earth's energy.
The simplest way to reconnect is to walk barefoot on natural ground like grass, sand, or concrete.
But if you spend most of your time indoors, you can stay grounded using TryGrounding’s safe, proven, and long-lasting products—also known as “barefoot substitutes.” Learn more about how they work on our website.
What is the technology behind grounding products?
The technology behind TryGrounding products is simple and effective. All products are made with conductive materials—our sleep systems, for example, are woven with silver threading throughout the fabric.
These conductive elements allow Earth’s natural energy to flow through a ground cord that connects to the grounding port of a standard wall outlet or to the optional TryGrounding Ground Rod.
Our products are safe, durable, and available in a variety of affordable options to suit every lifestyle.
TryGrounding.com is here to help you find the perfect system to stay grounded—day and night.
How does earthing affect dogs, cats & other indoor animals?
Just like humans, pets can benefit greatly from grounding—especially indoor animals that rarely get the chance to connect with the Earth’s natural energy, unlike their wild counterparts.
Grounding provides similar benefits to pets as it does to people. In fact, many pet owners notice that when they place a TryGrounding sheet on their bed or couch, their pets instinctively seek it out.
Grounding can help reduce inflammation, improve circulation, and even stimulate collagen production—contributing to better overall health and vitality. It may also ease stress and anxiety in indoor pets, promoting calmness and relaxation.
Many of our customers report that their cats and dogs are naturally drawn to grounded bedding or mats. While animals can’t express it in words, their behavior speaks volumes—they sense the benefits and respond to the energy in a way that’s both natural and reassuring.
Can grounding help with Neuropathy?
Although there are currently no formal studies specifically on grounding and neuropathy, there’s strong reason to believe it can help—based on what we already know about how grounding affects the body:
Neuropathy—especially diabetic neuropathy—often stems from damage to the small blood vessels that supply nerves in the hands and feet. Grounding has been shown to stimulate circulation, which may help bring more oxygen and nutrients to affected nerves, supporting healing and regeneration.
A key contributor to neuropathy is inflammation. Grounding helps your body absorb electrons from the Earth, which can neutralize positively charged free radicals—molecules known to drive inflammation. By reducing this oxidative stress, grounding may help calm inflammation tied to nerve damage.
Some research suggests that grounding can reduce chronic pain. Since neuropathy commonly involves nerve-related pain, grounding may help by influencing the body’s electrical system and reducing inflammation in nerve tissues.
Grounding has been widely reported to create a calming effect. This is important, because stress is known to worsen neuropathic symptoms. By helping the nervous system relax, grounding may indirectly improve symptom control.
Sleep plays a critical role in pain management and overall healing. Grounding has been linked to deeper, more restful sleep, which can support the body’s natural repair processes and improve how neuropathy symptoms are managed.
